Nicolò Bottalla was born in Palermo in 1970. He has lived and worked in Budapest for about 30 years. He studied art in Palermo, where he graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in the 90s. He took part in numerous courses of painting and restoration, and his works are now present in Italy and abroad, even in institutions public.
Refined engraver, in many of his works offers a sequence of architectural views of the Historic center of Palermo and the Hungarian capital with a layout narrative based on a nostalgic criterion of autobiography. In these paintings the artist does not use tones exasperatedly elegiac nor mannered melancholy, nor slips towards visual reconstructions too intellectual and artificial, but has rather a measured pace (although in the painful search for a balance between
the needs of the inner drive and the obligations of a qualitative optical rendering that provides a right medium between the paused rigor of the form and the impelling mood of affections.
